AFC Liverpool Under-18s secure FA Youth Cup progress

7 Elite Academy’s Player Pathway partners AFC Liverpool Under-18s sealed their place in the next round of the FA Youth Cup with an emphatic 6-0 win over Cheadle Heath Nomads.

Tuesday night’s success at the Marine Travel Arena means they go into the pot for the First Round Qualifying – just two stages before Football League clubs enter the competition.

The Merseyside youngsters secured victory thanks to a first half hat-trick from Michael Lismore and a goal from Josh Miles, before further strikes from Joel Skillen and Miles after the break.

Chris Stirrup, Chairman of AFC Liverpool, said: “This has been a great night for our Under-18 players, who took control of the game early on against a tough Cheadle Heath side.

“The FA Youth Cup is a competition that should never be taken lightly and this game showed how bright the future is for our club, throughout the age groups.

“There was a great atmosphere inside the ground from before kick-off and it was a great example of how passionate the support is for grassroots football here in Liverpool.”

As part of a sponsorship deal with AFC Liverpool, 7 Elite Academy operates the club’s Under-18s team.

The game was watched by a healthy crowd at the home AFC Liverpool, including players, parents ands coaches from across the 7 Elite Academy age groups.

Anthony Godfrey, Academy Director at 7 Elite Academy said: “I am so proud of these lads tonight, who impressed and got a great result on a massive occasion for them all.

“When you’ve got so many family and friends at a game it can be overwhelming, but that support really helped them. We had great support from throughout our academy, which was brilliant to see and hear.

“In many was this was a real celebration for the whole academy, by showing the pathways we offer and how we can help to inspire younger generations in grassroots football. Our Under-18 lads really led by example.”
