7 Elite Academy UK’s players return to the United Kingdom tomorrow after completing a clean sweep of trophies at the 7 Elite Academy International Tournament in the United States.

The academy’s two Under-18s teams won the their divisions in Utah on Saturday night, while the Under-16s also won their bracket on the same evening.

Under-14s youngster Landon Dyer, from Liverpool, was the star of the show for the 2010 Boys in Utah, winning a gold medal in his division.

The tournament was part of a tour of the United States that also included visits to local universities and professional clubs across the region.

Following the tournament, players headed to Las Vegas for further challenge games against La Liga giants Villarreal in the city.

Anthony Godfrey, 7 Elite Academy Director, said: “I’m absolutely delighted for the boys, because of the way they’ve applied themselves over the last few days and competed brilliantly.

“I’m over the moon for them. It really makes the trip all the more worthwhile and the effort they put in over the last six months to get here in terms of hard work and fundraising.

“I’ve worked with a lot of these players since they were just eight, so to see them mature and develop in the way they have is fantastic. It’s a great journey for them to be on.”

AFC Liverpool’s Under-18s team – run and operated by 7 Elite Academy –  won their final 2-1, while 7 Elite Academy UK’s Under-18s won their final 3-1. 7 Elite Academy UK’s Under-16s also emerged 2-1 winners.

The tournament was marked by the presence of several scouts from universities in the region, as well as recruiters from Steven Gerrard Academy in Liverpool and Real Salt Lake.

Anthony added: “I’m delighted because from listening to the feedback from the college recruiters is that they were really impressed by what they saw in our players.

“They’ve built some really good relationships and some players could potentially be looking at some very good progress with universities in the next few months.

“I am absolutely delighted that the players will be bringing some well-deserved silverware back to Liverpool.”
