Liverpool star Carragher sponsors Player Pathway
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has backed 7 Elite Academy’s player pathway by sponsoring its partnership with Marine AFC Reserves and Under-18s.
Jamie’s 23 Foundation, which was formed in 2009 following his testimonial with Liverpool, will sponsor both teams’ new shirts.
As part of its player pathway programme, 7 Elite Academy runs Marine AFC’s Reserves and Under-18s teams, creating new opportunities for young people to play senior football.
The 23 Foundation supports young people, local communities and charitable causes across Merseyside, working with hundreds of projects every year.

Jamie, who made 737 appearances for Liverpool and won the UEFA Champions League in 2005, said: “Working with young people and creating opportunities for them to thrive is something I am truly passionate about.
“I spent my whole career playing for Liverpool and started the 23 Foundation with the proceeds from my testimonial. It was always going to go to charity and the interest from the money we raised keeps it going.
“We help youngsters and their families in Liverpool throughout the year, often using sport as a way to promote keeping fit, encouraging self-improvement and improving mental health.
“What 7 Elite Academy does is massively important. Everyone has a different way to reach their ambitions and 7 Elite does great work in helping that happen.”
7 Elite Academy, which was recently named Liverpool FA Club of the Year, runs football, educational and community programmes for thousands of youngsters in the UK, USA and South Africa.
Anthony Godfrey, 7 Elite Academy Director, added: “I have known about the fantastic work that the 23 Foundation does for community organisations and families across Liverpool for some time.
“We put our application in through the scheme and we’re really grateful that we’ve got this support from the 23 Foundation. It will be exciting to see the shirts on these players’ backs.
“We want to continue building what we do and build more awareness of the 23 Foundation, especially when we take them to the USA for a two-week tour next February.
“These shirts will help us to continue getting as many kids as possible into the football pyramid.”
