Summer Youth Tournament is a success!
Hundreds of young soccer players from across the country descended on Litherland Sports Park for the 7 Elite Academy Summer Youth Tournament.
The event ran over four days last week for teams in Under-6 through to Under-12 age groups, with teams travelling from Wales, Isle of Man, Southern England and the North-West.
It was the latest tournament organised by 7 Elite Academy, which runs youth soccer teams and events in Liverpool, United States and South Africa.
Those events include the 7 Elite Academy International Tournament, which attracts over 500 teams from across the world to Southern Utah and Nevada every February.
Oliver Byrne, 7 Elite Academy UK Head of Junior Coaching, said: “This was our biggest youth tournament yet in the UK and I can’t thank the teams enough for attending.
“Our intention was to give youngsters a week of fun football in a competitive environment before the season starts and the players certainly enjoyed ourselves!
“The best thing from my perspective was seeing youngsters from all over the country play against teams they normally wouldn’t see and learn something new from every game.
“Everyone had a fantastic time and gave 100% in every game. That’s all I can ask and it was a great way for players to prepare for the season ahead.”
The tournament featured stalls and street food vendors, alongside music to create a festival atmosphere ever day. The staging was supplied free of charge by local company CG Scaffolding Services.
Organisers are now looking ahead to further tournaments later this year as part of a regular calendar events in Liverpool.
Oliver added: “The support of local companies was crucial to the success of this tournament. It showed how the community in Liverpool always comes together to support grassroots football.
“We are now looking at a further football tournament later in the year, either in October or Christmas, with even more events now in the pipeline.
“These tournament are important for youngsters to get together with their team mates and just enjoy playing football. That is where lifelong memories are made.”
