Summer kick-off starts
The 7 Elite Academy Summer Youth Tournament kicks off this weekend, with teams from across the North-West of England due to take part.
The two-day football event will run at Litherland Sports Park in Sefton for teams of boys and girls in the Under-7s to Under-12s age groups.
Players will have the opportunity to be seen by scouts from Premier League clubs, while former Liverpool and England star Stephen Warnock will be present on Saturday.
The tournament will be run by 7 Elite Academy, which runs teams for thousands of young people in the United Kingdom and United States.
Anthony Godfrey, Academy Director at 7 Elite Academy, said: “This tournament is a great opportunity to play football and enjoy some wonderful sunny weather.
“June is traditionally a quiet month in the football calendar, so wanted to add a tournament that really combines the best of football with friends and summer.
“We’ll have high quality trophies for all the winners and and medals for the finalists, along with different groups for varying abilities.
“That means as many young people as possible will take home a momento of their day with us and of course, some lifelong memories.”
Organisers will have food on sale for families and players, as well as cold drinks and ice pops for expected hot weather.
Anthony added: “It’s looking like it will be an absolutely scorching weekend, so we’re urging everyone to stay hydrated, especially the players.
“Sun block should be used at all times and teams are encouraged to bring their own canopies to provide shelter from the sun between games.
“This is hugely exciting event for is, as we continue to expand our training, tournaments, education, football camps and mentoring throughout the year.
“We are looking forward to seeing as many teams and their families enjoy a great weekend of football in the sun!”
