7 Elite Academy UK players head for USA
7 Elite Academy will send five Under-17 players from Liverpool to the United States next week, as part of the organisation’s global Player Pathway programme.
The youngsters will join up with 7 Elite Academy’s US-based SABA teams to play in the prestigious Bethesda Premier Cup College Showcase in Washington DC.
Prosper Imarhiagbe, Joel Skillen, Adam Dwyer, Michale Lismore and Josh Miles will join up with the SABA 04 Boys team, while Prosper and Joel will also play with the SABA 06 Boys squad.
They will follow in the footsteps of four 7 Elite Academy players who travelled to the USA in 2021, after which several youngsters received college scholarship offers.
The trip is part of 7 Elite Academy’s Player Pathway programme that regularly creates opportunities to join Premier League academies, as well as links with leading sporting colleges.
Anthony Godfrey, 7 Elite Academy Director, wants the players to make the most of the opportunity to impress in a new environment.
He said: “These five youngsters will have the chance to play against some of the best teams in the United States, as part of a tournament that attracts scouts from almost every leading college.
“They have displayed the attitude and commitment to training that college recruiters are always looking for. The key is for them to show that during the tournament.
“It is a different playing style in the United States, but I am confident these lads will adapt well. It is a very exciting time for them and they’ll make lifelong memories next week.”
The quintet will jet out on October 16th.
They were part of the AFC Liverpool Under-18s side – which is managed by 7 Elite Academy – that reached Final Qualifying Round of the FA Youth Cup last month.
Godfrey added: “Our Player Pathway programme also includes close links with AFC Liverpool, as we look to make the most of a youngsters’ passion and talent for football.
“These five players are well equipped to follow the example of the four players who travelled to the USA last year and left such a lasting impression on college scouts.
“Of course, our Player Pathway doesn’t just include football. We want every player at 7 Elite Academy to get the best opportunities in education, as well as local communities here in Liverpool.
“We work with local charities and community groups to make sure the benefits of football and regular exercise are felt by as many people as possible.”
