Questions & Answers

Where is the 7 Elite Academy International Tournament held?

Games are played in Saint George and Washington City Nevada, and Mesquite in Northern Nevada. These fantastic venues offer some of the finest-quality football pitches in the United States, along with spectacular views and weather.

What about flights and accommodation?

The nearest international airport is Las Vegas International Airport, which offers direct flights from the UK and is around a 90-minute drive from Mesquite. We have arranged reduced rates for accommodation with our trusted hotel partner, Event Connect. As part of this service, we will also be able arrange transport for teams throughout the competition.

Why is the 7 Elite Academy International Tournament held in February?

The climate in Southern Utah and Northern Utah is sunny pretty much all year round, but having a tournament in spring means we avoid temperatures of over 100 degrees, that are a regular occurrence in summer! Temperatures during our tournament are around 20-25 degrees, although they can drop towards freezing after sunset. There are also gym facilities in the local area and we encourage players to use these throughout the tournament and keep themselves in peak condition.

What benefits can the 7 Elite Academy International Tournament offer players away from the football pitch?

Apart from the incredible climate and scenery, Las Vegas offers an experience not to be missed by players and coaches alike! But our key benefit for players is the potential to be spotted by coaches and recruitment staff from leading colleges in the United States. You will face players who are also fighting for the best college places and scholarships are often on offer for the right players. You never know who is watching! We have strong working links with colleges across the United States and we’ve already had queries from scouts about attending the 2022 tournament.

What is the standard of football like?

Competitive! Only teams with the highest standards are able to play at the 7 Elite Academy International Tournament. All the players are skillful, physically very strong and highly motivated. Interest from College scouts at the tournament means the older age groups in particular work hard to impress. The standard of football in the United States is extremely high and many players see it as a great challenge.

Fundraising

A year-long exercise

When 7 Elite Academy players from Liverpool travelled to the 2020 International Tournament, they did so after carrying out a year-long exercise of fundraising to generate finances.

The youngsters held bucket collections outside Premier League games in their home city, as well as bag-packs at local supermarkets.

They were just one example of the fundraising that takes place to help our young people travel the world and experience different cultures.

By having our players carry out extensive fundraising, we teach them an important lesson about achieving good opportunities through determination and hard work.

This is crucial for our players’ futures, as they look towards careers in football and life in general.
